In our continuing exploration of the fun side (as opposed to the learning/networking side) of the Conference, I wanted to take a moment to show just how much entertainment/culture exists within walking distance of the Conference hotel (The San Diego Marriot Hotel & Marina). Last week’s San Diego photo tour mentioned our downtown is packed with public art.
Today, map- and photo- based proof.
First, I drew a hotel-centered 1-mile radius circle on our Downtown Public Art Guide Map (downloadable PDF). Within that circle, I count 50 pieces of public art ranging from whimsical to memorial, as well as numerous galleries and several performing arts theaters. Additionally, there are TWO major motion picture theaters (1 & 2). All are highly walkable.
The circle also includes our Children’s Museum (WOW), Maritime Museum (WAY COOL) and Museum of Contemporary Art (VERY CHIC). More on those after the slide show.

The Museums:
Literally across the street from the Conference hotel is the San Diego Children’s Museum. Personally, it’s one of the most impressive I’ve ever seen.
