How do you make a video go viral? I am not convinced there is a prescription to follow for making a video go truly viral. However, in my workshop, “3D Bubble Mania: Combine Traditional, Social and Mobile PR Outreach,” we will look at the importance of video in corporate communications by looking in-depth at “3D Bubble Mania” – and find out what worked and what didn’t.

Instead of speaking of viral videos, I recommend that we talk about Internet videos. Multimedia content that both engages the viewer and provides shareable content is a vital component of any comprehensive public relations campaign. And the challenge, as with all PR work, is to get noticed. It’s estimated that 60 hours of video are uploaded every minute to YouTube. That’s a lot of video. So, how do you make your video stand out?

The 2011 International Conference in Orlando, Fla., will provide public relations practitioners with the opportunity to exchange information with other professionals and learn new strategies. Professionals will leave feeling invigorated about the industry and even walk away with fresh, new ideas that can be implemented right away. First Conference Reflections

Posted by Melissa Snead in September 19th 2011

Having recently graduated from Northeastern University, I was excited when I was asked to attend the 2011 International Conference in Orlando, Fla. I have done internships in the past and gone to a few client events, but the idea of working at a PRSA event with hundreds of PR pros is exciting. I feel lucky to have the opportunity to network with top professionals from all over the world at the opening night party and even luckier to get to hear keynoters and sessions presenters speak.

Reconsidering the Digital Media Model

Posted by Bonin Bough in October 18th 2010

Having just released my first book, “Perspectives on Social Media Marketing,” with co-author Stephanie Agresta, thoughts on how to get started in this space and increase influence quickly are even more top of mind than usual. Regardless of size, I understand the importance of ROI, but think that the model of how we utilize digital media can be reconsidered.

If you or your clients are new to social media programs, I recommend initiating small-scale pilots where your results will be more easily measured and there is the opportunity to scale or re-shape the activation as the programs grow.
